Don Jazzy, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, is a Nigerian music producer, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He was born on November 26, 1982, in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria.
Don Jazzy started his music career as a teenager, playing the drums in his church. He later moved to the UK to study music production and audio engineering. In 2004, he returned to Nigeria and founded the now-defunct record label Mo' Hits Records, where he worked with artists such as D'banj, Wande Coal, and K-Switch.
Under Don Jazzy's leadership, Mo' Hits Records became one of the most successful record labels in Nigeria, producing hit songs such as "Oliver Twist," "Fall in Love," "Booty Call," and "Pere." Don Jazzy's production style, which blends traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds, has been widely praised and has influenced a generation of Nigerian music producers.
After Mo' Hits Records disbanded in 2012, Don Jazzy founded Mavin Records, which has also become a major player in the Nigerian music industry. Mavin Records has produced hit songs such as "Dorobucci," "Adaobi," "Godwin," and "All Is In Order."
In addition to his music career, Don Jazzy has also ventured into entrepreneurship, founding the social media platform Flobyt in 2017. He has also been involved in philanthropy, supporting various causes such as education and healthcare.
Don Jazzy is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians in Nigeria and has won numerous awards for his work, including Producer of the Year at the Nigerian Music Awards and the Nigerian Entertainment Awards. He has also been recognized for his contributions to the development of the Nigerian music industry, receiving the Special Recognition Award at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2018.
